Watchtower Society – Clarification No. 30

Bruchsal (20. April 2013)

The Watchtower Jesus is a convicted sinner!

Shortly before departure, I had the idea of a motto that could shake up the Jehovah's Witnesses on the question of whether a sinful Watchtower Jesus who is not God can save at all.

During the first few minutes before the bookstall, I was slightly unsettled because the perfect ignorance of the Jehovah's Witnesses was to suggest that they couldn't understand a word of the saying: "Jehovah's Witnesses confirm Jesus' death sentence: He makes Himself God." So I didn't begin to explain the connection loudly but audibly, because I wanted to be sure that they picked up the message so they couldn't ignore it so easily anymore and would have a reason to think about their "conviction" for the rest of their lives.

The body language of the Jehovah's Witnesses revealed that they had understood the context very well and I didn't have to give great explanations for the people passing by. So it seemed. A woman in a wheelchair stopped and asked, "Is this really your conviction?" Then I explained to her that this was firmly anchored in the program of the Watchtower Society and with the statement that Jesus was not God, they accused Jesus of sin of having made himself God. The expression on the woman's face spoke volumes. She was shocked by this effect of the Watchtower doctrine.

A somewhat deeper background knowledge is certainly necessary for this saying, but I could see from the faces of many passers-by that the tragedy of the connection became clear to many. In the almost two hours I spent there, Jehovah's Witnesses did not have the touch of a conversation at their book table. On the other hand, there were many conversations on my side of the pedestrian zone. And many people gave small signals of approval.

After ten o'clock, a couple told me they didn't understand the spell. I briefly explained the context to them and it turned out that they were Protestant Christians. It became a very nice conversation and we became louder and louder, so the Jehovah's Witnesses had to experience the cordiality between Christians who had just met. Around twelve o'clock I left, thinking of the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses had really been given a concrete cause on that day, to critically reconsider my own convictions. I will probably use this aphorism many more times.

Jehovah's Witnesses confirm the death sentence of Jesus:
"He makes Himself God."

People understand him well. Jehovah's Witnesses before all others.
